Qualifying as an Interim Manager
It is hard to distil the essence of successful managers. Many have completed tertiary education; others have no formal qualifications at all. Some are extroverted; others are mild-mannered and reflective. Many are enthusiastic team builders with a willingness to delegate; others are “hands-on” and enjoy working in small, tightly-knit groups.
The fine art of success
“You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else”
Albert Einstein
“Flaming enthusiasm, backed by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success”
Dale Carnegie
“Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit”
Conrad Hilton
Despite this diversity, there are three attributes that we believe are shared by all: vision, commitment, and passion. So while the following requirements offer a reasonably solid guide to what we are looking for, they are by no means exhaustive, nor are they necessarily the most important.
Completed formal education up to or above university masters level
Over 10 years of senior line management and/or project management experience
Five or more years experience at MT level
A broad career profile (in various sectors and positions)
Able to thrive in dynamic, challenging environments; can assimilate into a company and hit the floor running
A creative, results-orientated approach to problem solving and project management
An adherence to the highest level of business ethics
An ability to operate in a professional yet politically detached manner
A good networker and/or relationship builder
An adaptable personality; flexible with regards to the location of the assignment
Sufficiently financially secure to cope with periods between assignments
